Weekly Menu week 1

Cooking is one of my favourite passtimes.  Recently a friend suggested I should blog my weekly menu.  So I am going to try and do this for the rest of the year.  Most of the time I cook for 2 adults and two primary school age kids but as you will see most weeks we either entertain or do a meal from someone else or both.

Saturday night: Beef Curry, Rice and salad.  I made double so put the rest in the freezer for another night.  My kids don't like it spicy so I added yoghurt to theirs and also added a little more curry after removing theirs.

Sunday: We had a friend over for lunch so I made Macaroni cheese, salad and bread for lunch.  We had apricot cake for dessert.  We had the leftovers for our evening meal.

Monday: Fresh bread, A platter with carrot, celery and tomato with Mayonnaise and yoghurt dip, Salmon and a fruit platter.

Tuesday: Tonight we had Granny and Grandpa over for dinner.  I made Roast chicken with Stuffing, roast vegetables and broccoli with Gravy.  Granny made Apple strudel for dessert.

Wednesday: Kids cooking night.  My kids take turn to cook dinner with me.  They have to decide what we cook.  Mr 8 was on cooking this week.  He decided on Macaroni cheese, a salad with Carrot, cheese, corn, and sultana's.

Thursday:  My original idea was to turn the leftover vegetables from the roast on Tuesday into a salad and make filled pita breads with the salad and the cold chicken.  However it was really cold on Thursday so I heated leftovers up and toasted the pita breads.  I made a ginger steam pudding for dessert.

Friday:  Beef cottage pie.  A yummy vegetable and beef stew topped with potato and then heated in the oven so the potato was crunchy.  I made double and gave it to a family who are in the process of moving house to have earthquake repairs done.

Hats, Hats and more hats

Last year I made hats as part of community project.  These were given away to those in our community who were in need.  They are all made out of polar fleece.

These ones were adult size and I decided the black needed a litte decoration.

I made heaps of these hat/scarfs in kids sizes.  They easy to made and hopefully are keeping lots of heads and necks warm.
